This was a really fun week. One of the most fun days was on Wednesday when the swell had just picked up to 4 feet and with a nice high tide it was just perfect for "Baby Queens". During the afternoon I went surfing with my sister, my cousin, and two friends. My dad and I paddled from "The Wall" down to Baby Queens with our long boards and one by one took everyone out for a surf. It all worked out just fine. My dad tandemed with them while I surfed on my 8'0" with Ezekiel and Derek who we found cruising out at Baby Queens, too. On the very same day when I was paddling out I saw this guy and his daughter. This guy looked like he didn't have any experience at all when he and his daughter caught a wave!!!! They nose-dived and went over the falls. The dad came up out of the water looking all over for his kid, but he just couldn't find her. One of the guys that teaches surfing at Kuhio Beach shouted out "She's underwater! She's underwater!" I thought it was almost the end for the little girl when she popped up crying in tears. After that they went in! I bet if the mom were on the beach she would have screamed at her husband. Well, that is one thing you should never do when you are teaching your kid how to surf! |
