I had a great weekend. Because on Sunday, May 19, the last H.A.S.A. event at Kewalo’s was held. My first heat at 9:00 am was Menehune 2A. I won my heat and I got to go straight to the finals. When the Repo charge was held I watched as John John and some other good boys were ripping it up and I thought I had no chance against these boys if they made it in.
Finally the finals arrived! I took a few deep breaths and made my way up to the tent to pick up my blue jersy. In my heat I had John John Florence, Chad Chidester, Thomas Clark, Kekoa Cazimero, and Ezekiel Lau - just about the hardest heat you could get at my age!
I was really nervous, but I got second place and the champion John John won. Really all that mattered was that I tried my best and that I got to surf with some of the best boys in the state!
