2008 RAGING ISLE SPRINT
The 2008 Raging Isle Sprint was swam on Saturday, June 28 at 9:00 am. Over 520 swimmers entered the event, the largest swim ever on the North Shore of Oahu. There were two waves of swimmers. The women started first and the men started 5 minutes later. First to finish was Shanelle Choi. She was followed closely by Emma Berry, who seemed to be leading coming into the final turn buoy but took a wide angle which gave Shanelle the edge and the vicotry. The men's division was hard to track as the lead men swam through the women's field. Kacy Johnson swam through the women's pack a little faster than Olympic 10K Open Water Trialist Noa Sakamoto to take the win and the lead in the 2008 Surf & Sea North Shore Swim Series. Also of note was that there were 23 swimmers from out of state that completed this swim. Congratulations to all finishers. Next race, the Cholo's Waimea Bay Swim on July 12. |
